Author's note: I wrote a letter to me one year later. I made a list of 10 questions in this letter.
In this course, I often confronted myself when I started to write. By doing so, I could think about myself deeply and understand myself more. I found my weakness. That is shyness. I am not used to express my feeling or thoughts, but I could change myself by publishing three different pieces and become used to express myself a bit. I have an anxiety for my future, so I wrote this letter to me with expectation that I can change myself such as a person with confidence or sociability.

This is a course of free personal expression and creative writing at International Christian University in Tokyo. Each member of the class is an "author" with freedom to choose any theme, genre, format, and length they feel will be meaningful for them. The goal is to develop life-long writers who use English not only as a tool for professions, but as a way for self-expression that can connect and communicate with readers all over the world. Please enjoy and leave comments!

Ryo's second piece
Author's note: I produced four short stories for ESSC (Extremely Short Story Competition)
In the ESSC, people have to write short stories in about fifty words, so it was very difficult for me to include what I really want to tell in fifty words.
I will entry into ESSC, so I have to choose one story. I want you to help me to choose one.
I hope I would win this competition and get ten thousand book coupon.

Ryo's first piece "Your sensibility"
Author's note: I produced a new English translation of my favorite poetry written by Noriko Ibaragi.
I love her poetries, especially I love this poetry. When I felt uncertain about my future and was overcome by peopel around me, this poetry gave me a relief. When I read this poetry for the first time, this poetry got stuck deep in mind. Her poetries always give me motivations.
It was hard to me to understand what she really wants to say and convey it to readers in English. However, Moro, Nozomi, my friends and Mark suggested me to some ways to make my piece more poetic, so I was able to complete my work.
I put two pieces here. One piece has sentences written in only English. Another piece has sentences written in English and original Japanese. I want you to read the first piece written in English at first. Then if you want to read it with original Japanese, try to read another one.

Publishing - Just send me a Google Doc or other link!
Advice for Publishing:
1. Make sure you've had at least one other classmate give you feedback for revision and editing.
2. Send me a Google Doc link, and add me as an Editor. Other types of links are fine too. For example, if you want to add your voice or BGM, you can create a YouTube video.
3. Think about colors and how it will look as a published piece (font colors, size, background colors, images)
4. Send me an Author's Note that explains your theme and genre and your feelings about this piece. You can include things about what you tried to emphasize and what points you want to still improve in the piece, too. Inviting comments and reaction is a good thing to do too.
5. Feel free to keep updating or modifying your piece on Google Docs any time you like!
