"Reasons to be happy" by Riki Nozawa (Link)
Author's Note:
This is an essay(?) about happiness. This essay pays homage to Greg Egan, science fiction writer. His novel "Reasons to be cheerful" is very imaginative and stimulating. He gave me completely new view of happiness, and I want to express this strong inspiration.
This is a course of free personal expression and creative writing at International Christian University in Tokyo. Each member of the class is an "author" with freedom to choose any theme, genre, format, and length they feel will be meaningful for them. The goal is to develop life-long writers who use English not only as a tool for professions, but as a way for self-expression that can connect and communicate with readers all over the world. Hi Riki,
ReplyDeleteI think this link may not be working.
Would you share your document with me as an editor, or fix the link on your own using the publish link?
Thanks for the new link.
ReplyDeleteThis pieces makes me think about happiness.
I think your last point is very provocative. So what should we do to be happy if happiness is a chemical reaction?
I am sure it is true in a chemical sense, but from a human perspective...how should we perceive that reality?
I would still like to think that is is NOT the chemicals that make us happy; we make ourselves happy or sad by choosing to help others and love others.
